    Aug. 14, 2013

    Goat Olympics anyone?

Expect everything under the sun at the Whidbey Island Area Fair in Langley, including roving characters, pony rides, a straw maze, 4-H competitions, history events, carnival rides, food and entertainment. It’s all there and more at the Whidbey Island Fairgrounds as the fair keeps its long history going strong from Thursday, Aug. 15 through Sunday, Aug. 18.

The Whidbey Island Area Fair holds true to the tradition of all county fairs and has deep roots in agriculture, education and the economy of the community it serves. Quality exhibits from the farm are on display, including all types of livestock and crops, horticulture and floriculture.  From the home, all types of handwork are represented: clothing, needlework, baking, art exhibits, canning, quilting and fiber arts. Local young people share their interests and development through various projects chosen for recreation and learning.

There are demonstrations throughout the fair to inspire an interest in the talents and abilities of the people in Island County’s unique region. One of the goals of the fair organizers is that everybody attending the fair leaves at the end of the day knowing something they may have not known before they arrived.

Whidbey Island Area Fair also provides entertainment and a place to gather with family and friends, to celebrate the fruits of a community’s labors and to enjoy the special quality of life on Whidbey Island.
